The City of Derry Jazz & Big Band Festival is just around the corner and Foyleside Shopping Centre is one of the best places to soak up the atmosphere.

Taking place over the May bank holiday weekend, musicians and revellers from all over the world will flock to Derry in one glorious celebration of jazz.

From top-class jazz acts to workshops, we have a bumper schedule lined up at the centre’s Food Court on Level 3 to keep our shoppers entertained throughout the festival.

Jazz Gazette with Joan Talbot kick things off on Thursday 28th April, with Ricky Cool & The In Crowd and Calgach Singers performing the following day.

Saturday’s action sees Café Jazz Project followed by Paddy Sherlock & Les Swingin Lovers.

Our free dance workshop takes place on Sunday, which features professional dancers before the iconic Jive Aces take to the stage.

Kings of Rhythm will be on hand to bring the festivities to a close on Monday.

Fergal Rafferty, Foyleside Centre Manager, said: “We’ve missed not being able to host live jazz music over the last two years due to the pandemic, so to have the Derry Jazz Festival back in all its glory this year is great news for the city.

“It’s one of the highlights of our calendar and we’re very excited to showcase the amazing acts that will be performing in the centre. Jazz creates a unique and very enjoyable atmosphere, and we hope our shoppers will ‘swing’ by the food court to catch these incredibly talented musicians in action.”
